tightrope

i think after i discovered style/fashion blogs, my style has really changed. but then again, after so much exposure to new ideas and other people's personal style, how can i not be influenced?

like my style had gotten girlier and a bit more polished and grown up and creative. i also feel like i wear less outfits with pants and more skirts/dresses/shorts. truthfully i haven't really noticed that until last week when my friend haylee in my american sign language class pointed it out to me. i was wearing tights with my denim shorts and the following conversation insued:

h:are you wearing pants??
r: nope tights+shorts
h:o...you know i can't remember seeing you wear pants.
r:really?? i've worn pants to class before. i wore a pair last week o___o

and i really do wear pants ocassionally on days when i have my asl class it's just that i have aerobics class right before and i find dresses/skirts/shorts a lot easier to wear. espcially afer a shower. i really dislike the feeling of wearing jeans when my legs are still a bit wet/damp >:{

anyways, to show her that i do own/wear pants i decided to wear a pair of blue jeans [[since my loyal black skinnies are on their death bed and are closer to being thrown away ;____; ]] but i kinda had a problem figuring out what to wear with them. i haven't worn/styled them in a long time since whenever i do wear jeans, its always my blk skinnies and cmon, those practically go with everything. so i guess when in doubt i just went with the whole classic "jeans+white tee" outfit. and really, how can one go wrong with that? [[american classic anyone?]] only i added my wedges that had been handed down to me by my cousin and dispite the fact that her shoe size is 1.5 smaller than my own, i'd have to say they worked out well :] i guess i just needed one thing to be dressy [[for me]] and girly. well, that and that i really need to practice walking in heels... haha

yesterday's conversation:
r: see! i wear pants!
h:omg! wow this is like, the most dressed down i've seen you! i mean you're just wearing a tee and jeans.
r: uh...
h: no no i mean, i usually see you all cute dressed up in skirts/dresses.

i dunno i just thought that was funny.:]
hmm maybe i do need to get back into practice of wearing blue jeans. to chictopia i go! >:D lol

the girl knew how to chop and change

-"chop and change"-the black keys

yea, i tried not to go down the cheesy route and not title this blog with something that had to do with tigers. believe me, i wanted to say something tony the tigerish or something like "eye of the tiger" but i figure those are used quite a bit too much.

so anyways i wore this to church last night tho in retrospect, i figure that this outfit might've been a bit too flashy to wear to mass. haha [[but don't worry, i wore black tights to cover up and make it less...mmm, well i do have a big tiger face on my dress so anything i do to it it'll still be attention grabbing lol.]]

i'm actually pretty glad that my aunt approved of my outfit since she's pretty conservative herself and indirectly approved it as appropriate for church. haha
i like having any occasion to dress up and church is one of them. :] though i know i go there for worship but hey, i like looking nice. :]

anyhoo, the sleeves are kind of funny to me cuz if it were not belted, you could see that they kind of go all the way dowwnnn to the hem and i look like a flying squirrel .___. haha [[i actually had a picture of me acting a fool pretending to be a flying squirrel but it was just too embarrassing to keep haha]]
also, to tell you the truth, i can't remember if i've ever worn animal print before this item of clothing since my view of animal print was mangled by women in my neck of woods wearing them in horrendous fashions. blah, i still shudder at the memory. >_____<

but anyways, the past is the past and i'm pretty excited to see the new challenges this garment will present and who knows? maybe this item will be like a stepping stone for me into the world of animal prints :] cheers to the future ;]

the reeling

i think ever since i've found the fashion/styling blogging community i've grown style wise and have learned lots from fellow bloggers and one of the most important things i've learned to do is to make better use of my closet and what i've already got inside :]

it's challenged me to think of new ways to wear certain things and to step out of the box and my comfort zone.

granted sometimes it does take me a bit longer to think of a whole new outfit that i haven't tried before if i really want to be creative but sometimes if i hit the right note, i come out with a winner and feel pretty damn cool the rest of the day. haha

anyways, this past week i've lost/misplaced my beloved digital camera so i've been taking outfit shots with my cell phone lately. [[cellphones can do almost anything these days!]] so it looked kinda silly propping up my cell phone on my tripod to document my closet findings while getting ready to go somewhere or other so i hope you guys don't mind c[;

[[blazer-cotton on, stripped top-rodarte for target, jeans-bullhead pacsun, nomi heels]]

was cleaning my room sunday and putting away the piles of unfolded clothes that had accumulated the past week and since i'm a bit short on hangers everytime i put away my clothes, some of my items tend to share hangers. [[it's actually given me plenty of ideas on outfits so that never hurts either c[: ]] and this is pretty much where i got the idea for the blazer+top combo.

i absolutely love electric blue. it's a cool color which i tend to gravitate to the most but at the same time it's as bright as any warm color without being overwhelming.

this particular blazer though was kind of a spontaneous buy though because 1)as i've mentioned before, i love electric blue 2)i was a tad desperate for a blazer hahaha. then when i got it home i had some trouble as how to wear it. it kind of reminded me a bit of glam rock and maybe david bowie but then again, i had just watched labyrinth not to long ago before buying the blazer lol.

but when i paired the stripped top with it, i kind of had a "duh!" moment. a stripped top to me feels just as versitile as a white tee shirt and can be paired with pretty much anything so i'm glad the weather has been getting cold enough for me to rock it and for it to inspire me once more :]
